Even if my daughter didn’t like her two new toys from Imagiplay (she does), I would still be in love with them. After all the plastic, cheap-looking toys available in stores, the Pushalong Duck and Backyard Buddy Blocks that we recently received are refreshingly sturdy and high quality wooden products.
Because I am a mother who wants her daughter’s imagination to blossom, I determined early on to keep the toys that need batteries to a minimum in my daughter’s life. Instead, I try to focus on getting her toys that needed her to use her imagination. Imagiplay products help her do that!
First, the Pushalong Duck. This was a perfect choice for her, since for whatever reason, she loves ducks. Maybe it’s the fact that our upstairs neighbors have real ducks outside in a pen. She loves to go see those ducks on a daily basis, but now, with the Pushalong duck, she has her own duck in the house. Instead of having batteries that make the duck quack for her, we are teaching her to make her own duck sounds as she pushes it along the floor. Granted, the quacking is a little out of hand right now, but still, she’s learned to make the duck quack herself instead of relying on a built-in mechanism to do it for her.
The Pushalong toys do not just come in the form of a duck. There is also a Pushalong (red) Cat, (blue) Dog, (red) Fox, and (green) Hybrid Car. Each toy is made of rubberwood and is hand-painted with lead-free, non-toxic paint. The wheels are wooden but have a rubber strip in the middle of each of them, which helps protect your floors.
The Pushalong toys measure 5” by 4” by 1”. They are brightly colored toys that roll easily and are easily gripped by little fingers.
The Backyard Buddy Blocks are another perfect fit for my little girl, since she loves both bright colors and blocks. Although the picture on the site seemed to indicate a bigger block than it was in real life, I am glad it turned out smaller than I originally thought. At 1 ¼ inches each, the blocks are the perfect size for my daughter’s little hands.
There are four blocks in all and they come in a small wooden container. This container is painted on the outside with six different animals: a rabbit, fox, frog, skunk, squirrel, and raccoon. They are more than just images to decorate the toy, however. They represent each of the six different animal pictures the blocks can be made into when inserted in the right order into the container.
My daughter is not yet able to create the pictures with the blocks, but she still enjoys stacking them on top of each other outside of the container and then making them fall. I also found her concentrating very deeply the other day as she attempted to figure out how to get the 4th block back into the wooden container. She clapped her hands when I helped her put it in, completing the square.
I’m always seeking to buy earth-friendly toys from companies that have mottos and goals such as Imagiplay’s: “Toys with Integrity.” They accomplish this
“by producing quality products that connect with nature, have eco-friendly sources, and hold educational value, ImagiPLAY works to benefit the earth we share and the people that inhabit it.”
It’s thrilling that I’m not only buying toys that line up with my own goals in life, I’m also getting toys that my daughter loves and will play with again and again!
Imagiplay is doing two giveaways for our readers: a Pushalong toy and a Backyard Buddy Blocks toy. Comment this article, stating which toy you are interested in (specify which Pushlong you want), and a winner will be selected at random on December 1st!
Stumble it!

November 20th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
As a grandma I also agree kids need to still play with toys to stimulate their imaginative thinking. I got my grandkids started on puzzles and they’ve gotten so good and doing puzzles far above their age levels. This teaches them so many different things and the block puzzle looks like my 3yr.old would love it. I’d have to get the kitty if I got a pushalong toy.
November 20th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
The wood toys are my fave.I am a subscriber.
November 20th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
My children, ages 1 & 2, play with their wooden cars, blocks, and puzzles more than any of their other plastic toys. They are more creative and have a longer attention span with quality wooden toys that require them to think more rather than just be entertained. The toys shown above are wonderful examples of such quality toys. My children (and me too!)would just love the Fox pushalong toy! Thank you :o)
November 20th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
